Summary : Kouta Yabu (20) had a step-little sister. Her name is Reiko Yabu (16). Their parents passed away 8 years ago, and they lived together until now.

Fifteen years ago

Kouta and his parents were going somewhere. They arrived there, and Kouta saw the building's name was "Heron Orphanage". They out of car, and his parents went inside the building. Kouta followed them.
"Ne...My dear Kouta...", his mother called him softly.
"Yes, kaa-chan?"
"You said you want a sister, right?", his father stroked Kouta's hair.
"Hai. Nande?"
"And your dreams come true, dear...", said his father.

Then a nurse came, and she carried a one year baby. The little baby had a short hair, white skin, and a brown-bright eyes.

"Can you introduce yourself, sweety? I heard you can speak a little...", said Kouta's mother softly.
The baby tried to walk, and came to Kouta's mom.
"Re..Rei...Reiko...desu."
"Kawaii!", said Kouta happily.
"And now she is your sister, Kouta...", said Kouta's father.
"Hontou?"
"Yes!"
"Hooraaaay~!".

Kouta hugged his new sister tightly. She looked so surprised, and she hugged him back.

Eight years ago

"Kaa-chan!", said Reiko happily.
"Yes, honey?"
"We're going to picnic tomorrow, right?", her smile widened.
"Of course! Your dad is already preparing some picnic needs for tomorrow!"
"And we're going to fishing too!", said Kouta.
"Hooray!", Reiko hugged his mother.
"It has been a long time for us to go picnic again, Kaa-chan!", said Reiko.
"Uum... Yes, you're right, dear...", she hugged her daughter tightly.

Then Kouta and Reiko prepared some things for tomorrow. Kouta put some comics and his GBA to his bag. He put his hat too. Reiko put hat and some snacks. His mom was busy to make some foods, and his father prepared some fishing-needs and checked the car.

"Ne, Rumi...", said Kouta's father.
"Yes honey?"
"I think I need some oil for our car, and I'll go to the petrol station to buy it..."
"Ah, me too. I need some onions and meat for tomorrow..."
"Okay, then let's go."
"Hai."

Then the two went outside.

"Wait, Kaa-chan! Where're you two going to?"
"We're going to buy some foods for tomorrow, Reiko..."
"Okay be careful!", said Kouta.
"Hai hai, arigatou".
"Ne, Kouta. Please keep the house and her, okay?", said their father.
"Okay! Ja~", said Kouta.

Then they to went off. Kouta and Reiko went inside the house, and they continued to packed some things.

"Nii-chan..."
"Yes?"
"What do you think?"
"About what?"
"Foods for tomorrow!"
"It'll be great if kaa-chan make us some shrimp roll and meat!"
"I can't wait for tomorrow!"

The two were very happy. After packed their bags, they went downstairs. They were playing playstation, and waiting for their parents.
Suddenly, the phone rang. Kouta ran to the phone, and hung it up.

"Yes, moshi-moshi?"
"...... NANI?"
Reiko shocked. "Nande, Nii-chan?"

Kouta knelt down, and lean on the wall. He was crying.

"Doushite?", Reiko confused.
"Kaa-chan... Oto-chan..."
"Nande?"
"They... Have a car accident..."
"WHAT?", Reiko shocked. And she can't believe that.
"And now they're in critical condition... Someone from the hospital will take us to the hospital..."

10 minutes later, someone knocked the door. There was a man from hospital. He carried Kouta and Reiko to the car, and go to the hospital. On the way to the hospital, Reiko was crying so hard, and lean her head to Kouta's shoulder. Kouta stroked her hair, and calm her down. He still crying, but the most important is : Don't let his sister more sad about this.

They arrived to the hospital. The two ran to the emergency room, and met their parents. They saw their father was laying on the bed weakly. His head full of blood. But, he passed away first.
"We're really sorry...", said the doctor.
"OTO-CHAN!", shouted Reiko.
She shook her father's chest, but nothing happened.

Their mother same as him. Her head was full of blood too. Kouta and Reiko felt so much pain in their chest. Reiko was crying loudly, but Kouta just stood silently. He sobbed. He tried to keep brave. Then suddenly his mom called him.
"Kou...Ta...", said his mom weakly.
"Kaa-chan!", said Kouta. Reiko approached her with some tears falling down.
"We're...Real..Ly...Sorry..."
"That's okay mom...", they sobbed.
"Kou...Ta...", she looked at him.
"Yes?"
"Please...Protect...Your sis..."
"Of course, Kaa-chan..."

Their mother smiled, and closed her eyes. Forever.

"KAA-CHAN!", they shouted. And cried

END OF FLASHBACK

Kouta opened his eyes. He tried to keep his tears no falling down. He took a deep breath. He made a decision to calm down his sister. He walked upstairs and knocked his sister's room.

"Reiko... Can I come in?", asked him softly.
